Northern Province FAZ Division One side Teta Football Club’s head coach, Augustine Kabwe, says he wants to capitalise on some of his experienced players heading into the Absa Cup tournament to help the team go further in the 2026 edition.
The log leaders are coming in for the second consecutive time for the sole competition. In the 2025 edition, they were booted out in the preliminary round.
In an interview with BolaNews, Kabwe stated that the club has managed to keep some players who played in the previous tournament.
“This is our second time playing Absa; this time around we are trying to push so that at least we can do better than we did last time. And our preparation is going very well. There are four or five we have that were part of the squad that played in the last tournament,” he stated.
Kabwe believes the experience will help the new players acclimatise to the competition’s demands.
“The players have seen what it takes to play in the ABSA Cup, so it will be very easy for them to go and understand the tempo in the Absa Cup, and I also want to push so that we reach where we can through our hard work,” he said.
“I’m telling my players to adapt to the demands, as we will be playing teams we hardly know. It is a demanding tournament, but we are ready for it.”
Asked about representing the country in the CAF Confederation one day, Kabwe stated, “That’s our dream. We also need to go where we can; at least we can go out and play in a big competition.”
