Indeni and Nkwazi will meet in the round of 16 on Friday at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe.

In an interview with Bola News, Chembo stated that Indeni has a number of experienced players who will be crucial in providing leadership to young players during such intense matches.

“We are ready. The Absa Cup is played during periods when most teams are active and we are ready,” he stated.

“We are playing one of the oldest teams in the league, and they have assembled a good team. It is a big occasion, and we are motivating the boys to enjoy it with a winning mentality,” he continued.

“We have a few experienced players; some have played in the Absa Cup before, and they have at least something to show young and upcoming players; it is a plus for us.”

Chembo has not outrightly revealed the team’s target in the 2024 competition, stating that they will take the matches as they come, starting with Friday’s tussle.

“Each and every game is a different game. When you talk about cup games, there is a different atmosphere altogether. We are just psyching the players because this is a big occasion,” he explained.

The former Forest Rangers head coach has declared his side, which has no injury concerns, ready for the encounter against Nkwazi.

This year’s ABSA Cup has featured 21 teams from eight teams, including all Provincial League clubs. The competition’s sponsorship has increased to K5.5 million from K4.4 million.

The new format included seven clubs from the Super League, four from the National League, and ten provincial champions.
