On Saturday, Ndola-based Forest Rangers defeated F.C Muza 2-0 to clinch their first ABSA Cup title at Woodlands Stadium.
F.C. MUZA hoped to win their first silverware in the history of the club, but the Mazabuka-based side fell short.
Lameck Banda, the club’s head coach, told Bolanews.co that despite losing the K700,000 cash prize in the ABSA Cup final, he is proud of his team’s achievements.
“Having just come on the scene and only a few believed in us,” Banda stated. “But today we are the talk of many due to the potential that we have exhibited and it’s not by fluke but the hard work, courage, determination, commitment, desire, and passion for the game.”
Banda also added: “playing in the ABSA Cup final and qualifying for CAF Confederations Cup isn’t a mean achievement. It is a great milestone. You must be proud of yourself.”
He has stated that the ABSA Cup final loss taught him valuable lessons, and his team will now focus on their upcoming fixtures.
“We picked up vital lessons from the ABSA Cup, and we will go back to our training ground not just to train but train smart for future endeavors.”
“I know will rise from the ABSA Cup defeat and do better ,” concluded Banda.
After finishing second in the league table, F.C MUZA will represent Zambia in the CAF Confederation Cup for the first time in their history.
They will travel to North Western Province this Saturday as they take on the Lumwana Radiants in the last game of the season.
