Mwepu, Sunzu, Mabika named in Chipolopolo squad

Chipolopolo coach Avram Grant has given Francisco Mwepu his first senior call-up to the national team ahead of the AFCON qualifier match against Ivory Coast on June 17, 2023.

Zambia National Team coach Avram Grant has named a 29-man squad for the 2023 Group H Africa Cup of Nations qualifier (AFCON) match against Ivory Coast.

The Chipolopolo Boys will host Ivory Coast on June 17, 2023, at the Lev y Mwanawansa stadium in a match that would seal their qualification.

They need only a point from their remaining two games against Ivory Coast and Comoros to qualify for the Africa Cup for the first time since 2015.

Meanwhile, Grant has recalled experienced defender, Stoppilla Sunzu to his latest selection.

Others, include Aime Mabika whose switch of allegiance to Zambia was prolonged due to delayed clearance by Zambian authorities.

Supersport United midfielder, Gamphani Lungu has also been recalled after missing the previous one.
