It was a competitive Week 29 in the Zambian Super League, with lots of players performing to the best of their abilities.
BolaNews comes through with yet another compilation of the Team of the Week from a round of matches with so many goals.
GOALKEEPER
Scott Ngokane (Kabwe Warriors): Warriors went to difficult territory in the Super League, the Nakambala Stadium, and picked up a 0-2 sweet victory over FC MUZA. Ngokane kept a clean sheet for the second week running with the biggest moments coming in the 42nd and 45th minute as he denied Bobo Angwenga and Emmanuel Manda from a freekick and one-on-one situation respectively.
DEFENDERS
Gift Zulu (Napsa Stars): He put in an impressive shift both defensively and offensively for Napsa Stars in their big 4-1 win in a local derby against Green Buffaloes. The left-back also assisted Napsa Stars’ fourth goal which came courtesy of striker Jimmy Mukeya.
Faustin Bokadila (Power Dynamos) – Bokadila proved a hard nut to crack for Chambishi strikers as he threw in well-timed tackles to keep it tight. Power Dynamos’ defense was breached moments after he was withdrawn but largely so due to a hurler from goalkeeper Lawrence Mulenga.
David Odhiambo (Napsa Stars) – The experienced Kenyan defender was in his zone, as he managed to keep Green Buffaloes attacker Golden Mashata at bay. Odhiambo was throwing his weight into the attacks from the pensioners.
MIDFIELDERS
Joshua Mutale (Power Dynamos) – The attacker chipped in with an assist for Andy Boyeli in the first half and rounded up his good attacking prowess with a goal in the 47th minute. Mutale was a handful for the Chambishi side and demonstrated his potential once let loose by the opposition.
Collins Sikombe (Zesco United) – Sikombe has been in fine form for Zesco United and he once again rose to the occasion for the Ndola side with the opening goal and was also involved in the buildup for the second goal.
Fredrick Mulambia (Power Dynamos) – Mulambia was in impeccable form as he put in a man-of-the-match deserving performance for Power Dynamos. He provided two assists on the day for Andy Boyeli and Mutale which helped the Kitwe side to open up a 10-point gap.
Justin Shonga (Nkwazi) – Two goals on the day were enough to give Nkwazi all three points against Forest Rangers. Shonga used his strikers’ instincts well to slot home from close in the first half before he neatly scored from a freekick to ensure the Policemen beat Forest Rangers 2-1.
Forwards
Adams Zikiru (Napsa Stars) – he is proving to be the most consistent goal scorer in the recent Super League match. The Ghanaian put Napsa Stars in the lead at Heroes Stadium before turning provider for Augustin Mulenga to score the second for Napsa Stars. He was soon back on the scoresheet as he benefited from a Mulenga assist. 5 goals in 5 matches for Napsa since making his debut, impressive!
Enock Sakala (Zesco United) – Sakala’s brace did not go unnoticed; he finds himself a slot in the team of the week. It was a rare show of power and efficiency for a player who has previously showcased what he is capable of doing. Getting a brace in such a big fixture is an impressive feat for the young striker.
