Pep Guardiola- Man City

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is expected to leave the club before any potential sanctions are imposed.

Following a four-year investigation, the Premier League revealed on Monday that the Cityzens had been charged with violating more than 100 financial rules.

According to the Daily Mail UK, Manchester City expects Guardiola to leave the Etihad Stadium before any potential sanctions are imposed.

Guardiola was said to have been one of the first senior figures at City to be informed of the charges by the Premier League before the news broke.

It’s reported that he has always stood by City in the aftermath of the allegations, but last season he vowed to resign if he discovered that the club executives had lied to him about the club’s financial dealings.

“I said to them, if you lie to me, I will be out, and I will not be your friend anymore,” Guardiola was quoted. “I put my faith in you because I believe you 100% from day one and I defend the club because of that.”

Meanwhile, City denied the allegations, which are said to have occurred between 2009/10 and 2017/18, and issued a statement expressing their surprise.

During his six-and-a-half-year reign at City, Guardiola has won four Premier League titles, four EFL Cups, one FA Cup, and two community shields. In addition, he led the team to their first Champions League final in 2021 which they lost 1-0 to Chelsea.

City are currently second in the Premier League, five points behind leaders Arsenal, but they risk losing points if found guilty by an independent Commission to which their case has been referred.
