Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag has challenged his players to repeat their September heroics against Arsenal when they visit the Gunners on Sunday afternoon in the Premier League.
Ten Hag’s men were held to a 1-1 draw by Crystal Palace last night at Selhurst Park, thanks to Michael Olise’s stunning injury-time free-kick that canceled Bruno Fernandes’ 43rd-minute goal, denying the Red Devils a chance to move into second place on the table, as they are now level on 39 points with their arch-rivals Manchester City, who sit second.
Ten Hag, however, urged his players to replicate their performance against Arsenal in September when they face the league leaders on Sunday.
“We are looking to Arsenal and to make a proper plan, the players have to make sure they are ready. It’s fantastic to play such games,” He said.
Manchester United defensive midfielder Casemiro will miss Sunday’s game against Arsenal due to a suspension for yellow card accumulations, but Ten Hag believes they can still beat Arsenal without him because they have done so before.
“The last time we beat Arsenal without Casemiro, so this time we need to do the same.”
United defeated Arsenal 3-1 at Old Trafford in September, the only defeat that Arsenal has suffered this season and they will seek revenge at the Emirates stadium come Sunday.
