Agness Fabiola Banda, a former Nchanga Rangers Queens goalkeeper says she is settling well at Zimbabwean side CAPS United Royals Football Club, where she has already made three appearances since joining the club.
Banda, previously featured for Congolese top-flight side TP Mazembe. She also played for National Assembly and Nchanga Rangers in the Zambian league.
Speaking to Bola News from Zimbabwe, Banda said she has received a warm welcome from the club’s management, players, and supporters.
“This being my third different top-flight league in three countries has taught me how to adapt quickly. Plus, the team, management, and fans have been so welcoming.”
Banda says she is gradually getting to understand the Zimbabwean league.
“I’ve only played three games so far, so I’m still learning the league, but what I’ve seen is that it has a lot of pride, history, and the supporters bring so much energy,” she said.
At CAPS United Royals, Banda has particularly noticed the enthusiasm of the supporters, which she believes provides additional motivation for the players.
“At CAPS United Royals the fans are super passionate about the team; it really pushes you in every game,” she said.
On the difference in the physical demands between the Zambian and Zimbabwean leagues.
“A notable difference from back home is that the league there was a bit more physical. But I wouldn’t say it’s not physical here,” she explained.
“Teams are strong and they make you work. In just three games I’ve already been tested by opponents several times, with a number of shots on target.”
Looking ahead, Banda is determined to improve with every game.
“But I love new challenges. I’m here to work hard, improve every day, and give everything for the badge,” she said.
