Regina Chanda, Zanaco Ladies Football Club striker says the Bankers are determined to mount a challenge for the league title this season after finishing fourth last season.
Chanda, believes the team is ready to improve on last season’s performance, insisting the objective is no longer just to compete but to finish as champions.
“We are happy that we came back from rest, and I think we’ll be pushing harder than last season,” she said.
“I think the lesson that we learned about last season is that we lost focus in the last games. We need to recover from those last games.”
The forward also outlined her personal ambitions, admitting she wants to become more consistent after limited game time last season due to injuries while increasing her goal contributions.
“Individually, I need to improve on my consistency because I didn’t play a lot of games. I also need to improve on scoring and maybe assisting as well,” she said.
The striker called on the squad to adopt a winning mentality if they are to challenge for top honors.
“We need to think on one thing—we need to think as champions. Last season we finished number four, and that was a big achievement for Zanaco Ladies, but this season I think we need to push harder during this preseason so that we come out number one.”
Chanda also appealed to the club’s supporters to continue backing the team throughout the campaign.
