Zimbabwean giants Highlanders FC have announced the departure of Zambian coach Kelvin Kaindu, two years after his reappointment.

Kaindu returned for a third stint at the club in December 2023 and guided the team to an eighth-place finish in his first season back.

His departure comes amid a poor run of form in the 2025 Zimbabwean Premier League, where Highlanders have managed just five wins from 17 matches. The team currently sits ninth on the table, 12 points behind leaders Simba Bhora, with eight draws and four losses.

In an official statement, the club said: “Highlanders Football Club would like to inform its stakeholders of the following changes in its Technical team with immediate effect. The club has parted ways with head coach Kelvin Kaindu. First Assistant Coach Try Ncube will, in the interim, head the Technical team assisted by Second Assistant Coach Agent Saw. The rest of the Technical team members will maintain their roles.

“The above changes have been necessitated by the recent streak of unsatisfactory results.

“The club wishes coach Kelvin Kaindu the best in his future endeavors and thanks him for his contribution during his time of service.”

Kaindu, regarded as one of Zambia’s most qualified coaches, has had mixed fortunes in his career. Despite a solid reputation in Zimbabwe coaching Triangle and Mine Football clubs, he faced challenges in the Zambian top flight.

In 2018, Kaindu was appointed head coach of Power Dynamos, but his tenure at the Kitwe club was short-lived, ending just a year later.

Kaindu has also previously coached other Zambian Super League clubs, including Nkana, Buildcon, and most recently, Zanaco FC.
