The National Coaches Association of Malawi has submitted names of coaches for consideration by the Football Association of Malawi (FAM) in the appointment of the Flames coach.

FAM is looking for a new coach to replace Patrick Mabedi, who was fired. That work must be completed this month, as the team prepares for the World Cup qualifiers in March.

In October, FAM fired Mabedi and named Kalisto Pasuwa and Peter Mponda as caretaker coaches. They led the Flames to a 3-0 victory over Burkina Faso and a scoreless draw against Burundi.

FAM is looking for a permanent coach, and the country’s coaches association has submitted six names for consideration.

These include former FCB Nyasa Big Bullets coach Pasuwa, current Bullets coach Mponda, and former Creck Sporting coach MacDonald Mtetemera. Others are former Mighty Mukuru Wanderers coach Alex Ngwira and Moyale Barracks coach Prichard Mwansa.

Madalitso Kuyera, chairperson of the FAM technical subcommittee, stated that his committee was tasked with expediting the process by the end of January.

Kuyera stated that they have received the coaches’ suggested names but will sit down and complete their work, which will be submitted to FAM for direction.
