Former Chipolopolo boys, midfielder Larry Bwalya has described Zambia’s upcoming encounter against Ivory Coast as a must win tie.
On Friday this week, Zambia could qualify to the Africa Cup of Nations (AfCON) with a match to spare should they beat the Elephants provided the match between Chad and Sierra Leone produces no winner.
Bwalya, is confident that Chipolopolo can pull a fast on the defending Champions. He is not part of the Avram Grant, summoned squad for the crucial match.
“Zambia still have a chance to qualify, I think the most important game is the one against Ivory Coast. It is a must win for us to qualify, we just have to win at home at all costs,” Bwalya told SportsBoom.
Zambia sits second in Group G, with seven points, two behind leaders Ivory Coast while Sierra Leone and Chad are on four and two points respectively.
After Friday, Chipolopolo will travel to Monrovia, Liberia to face Sierra Leone, however, that fixture may be a formality should they manage to do the business against Ivory Coast.
Despite missing some key players, Chipolopolo will draw some inspiration from their last meeting against the Elephants at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium where they managed a 3 – 0 win.
