After sustaining an injury in Zambia’s 2-0 loss to Ivory Coast during the international window, Chipolopolo striker Edward Chilufya was on the scoresheet for Midtjylland on his 25th birthday in the Danish Cup third-round match against Hillerod at the MCH Arena last night.
Chilufya returned to the starting eleven after starting off the bench for the Thomas Thomasberg side, who are now enjoying a three-match winning streak.
He was deployed on the left side alongside partner Jan Kuchta, who opened the scores for the away side in the 18th minute.
The Danish Superliga pacesetters extended their lead in the 31st minute through Aral Simsir, taking the lead into the halftime break. Hillerod pulled one back through AdrianJustinussen after the restart in the 62nd minute.
However, Midtjylland finally found a way past their opponent’s defence in the closing stages, with Franculino Dju and Chilufya scoring the 90th and 90 plus five minutes of additional time, respectively.
“Great win and a good way to celebrate my birthday with a goal,” the Zambian attacker wrote on Instagram after the game.
Chilufya has been in fine form this season and now has three goals and four assists in 12 appearances across competitions for Midtjylland.
