‘We were very careless, We are lacking quality’- Mwenya Chipepo

Chipepo slammed his players for the humiliating loss when he returned to Kitwe on Wednesday in the MTN Super League.

A 5-0 defeat is not a result Forest Rangers coach Mwenya Chipepo wished for on his return to Arthur Davies Stadium months after he ditched Power Dynamos, a team he guided to the title last season.

Austin Muwowo’s brace, along with goals from Fedrick Mulambia, Moses Phiri, and Joshua Mutale in the second half, were enough for Power Dynamos, who are aiming for a top-two finish.

Chipepo’s departure from Arthur Davies Stadium is well documented, and it was nothing close to cordial.

Clearly, he would have loved to hurt his former employers on his first return to Arthur Davies Stadium, but his successor, Osward Mutapa, had other ideas.

The result displeased Chipepo, who did not mince his words, labeling his side as ‘careless’ and crying out for quality strikers going into the next season.

“We were very careless, especially in the midfield; that is where they [Power] won the game. I don’t want to talk about the goalkeeper or the defence; it started from the midfield. I have to go back to training,” Chipepo said.

The result is not good for Forest, as it drags them into the relegation equation. They sit 10th on the log with 38 points, just three points above the relegation zone.

Their next game is against rivals Zesco United in the Ndola derby.

“A very tough game again,” he said, “It won’t be easy but playing at home we want to use that as an advantage.”

Forest have only scored twice in their last five games, and Chipepo conceded that his team lacks quality.

“We are lacking quality… I don’t want to say that because I will demoralize the players but we need top strikers,” he said.
