Zambian striker Patson Daka has joined the rest of the world in grieving the loss of former Ghanaian international Raphael Dwamena, who collapsed during a match on Saturday in Albania following a cardiac failure.

Dwamena, 28, collapsed in the 23rd minute during an Albanian topflight encounter between KF Egnatia and Partizan.

The Ghanaian forward received a cardiac problem diagnosis in 2017 and underwent chest surgery in 2020 to have a defibrillator installed to track his cardiac activity during games.

During his career, Dwamena represented a number of clubs, including RB Salzburg, Zurich FC, and Levante UD. He scored over 100 goals in his career.

His international debut for the Black Stars was one to remember when he grabbed a brace against Ethiopia during an Africa Cup of Nations qualification match in 2017. Alongside last season’s Albanian Cup victory, Dwamena’s list of honors includes the Swiss Challenge League and Cup trophies.

Meanwhile, Chipolopolo star Patson Daka took to his social media to mourn the Ghanaian forward following his untimely passing on Saturday.

Dwamena motivated others including Patson Daka.

Courtesy of his Instagram account, the Zambian striker uploaded a message to his story lamenting Dwamena’s death. Both stars have represented Austrian clubs, RB Salzburg and FC Liefering.

Daka wrote, “Heaven has gained an angel; till we meet again, brother, RIP.”

The Leicester City striker also shared an old 90-second video of Dwamena sharing an encouraging biblical message about life, adding the caption #TellTheWorld.
