The Copper Queens’ title defense against Mozambique ended in a scoreless draw, and they must win their next match to keep their prospects of regaining the COSAFA title alive.

On Sunday afternoon in South Africa, Zambia will play Angola in an effort to win their first match of the 2023 Hollywood COSAFA Women’s Championship.

The outcome of today’s match will have a bearing on the rankings as the Copper Queens are in third position, one point behind Mozambique and leaders Angola, who defeated Comoros in the first match.

Leticia Lungu is expected to start in goal, but in order to make what may be her Copper Queens debut, she will have to defeat under-20 standout Loveness Tonge and 2021 Goalkeeper of the Tournament Ngambo Musole.

Mweemba, Pauline Zulu in the middle of the defense, and Esther Siamfuko or Thelma Chella at right back might make up the back four.

Who starts upfront for the Queens?

Up-front, the starters in the first game against Mozambique who include Agness Phiri, Maylan Mulenga and Comfort Selemani face stiff competition from Eneless Phiri, Sarah Jere and Natasha Nanyangwe, who impressed in the previous match.

Rita Mwila Kaoma, who might also make her debut this afternoon, is one option the technical bench have for adding to the loop.
