ZPL Sanctions Zesco United for Using Twenty Unregistered Players

Zesco United have been docked a point from a goalless draw against Konkola Blades at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on Saturday.

This is after the Ndola-based side was found to have 20 unregistered players during their season opener against Sharp Razor.

“ZPL refers to the match played on Saturday, 16th August 2025, between Konkola Blades and ZESCO United, in which your club fielded twenty (20) ineligible players,” the statement read in parts.

Konkola Blades has since been awarded 3 points via a 3-0 victory. The club coached by Tenant Chilumba is fined K10,000.

“Forfeiture of the match played against Konkola Blades on 16th August 2025. In accordance with the competition regulations, the result is awarded as a 3-0 victory to Konkola Blades.”

“A fine of K10,000 (ten thousand kwacha), payable to the Zambian Premier League within seven (7) days of receipt of this letter.”

Some of those 20 ineligible players include Zachariah Chilongoshi and the Nigerian duo of Oghenemarho Pepo and Chijioke Alaekwe.

The sanctions are according to Article 55 and Article 31 of the FAZ Disciplinary Code of 2021.
