Zesco United have suspended head coach Emmanuel Siwale and fired CEO Kelvin Mutafu.
The club said they have fired the CEO because of an “unsuccessful probation period” and replaced him with James Ngoma on an interim basis.
“ZESCO United Football Club wishes to inform its stakeholders and the public that the Club’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Kelvin Mutafu has been separated from employment service with the Club with immediate effect. The termination is due to unsuccessful probationally period,” the club said in a statement on Friday.
Meanwhile, Winston Kalengo will lead the technical bench alongside Mwape Mwelwa, Jacob Banda, Emmanuel Mschili and Kondwani Mtonga, while First Assistant Coach Clive Hachilensa has also been suspended.
“The decisions have been made after careful considerations and in the best interest of stakeholders. ZESCO United Club remains fully committed to restoring strong performances and upholding the values and ambitions it stands for,” the club said.
Zesco are currently on a four-match losing streak and are sitting in the bottom half of the MTN Super League table with 25 points from 21 matches, just three points above the relegation zone.
They also had a poor run in the CAF Confederation Cup, winning just one game in six and losing the rest.
