Zesco United maintains lead Nkana and Warriors drop points

Mufulira Wanderers ended their seven games winless streak of the season with a 2-3 victory over Kabwe Warriors.

With a 2-0 victory over Nkwazi, Zesco United football go into half-season break of the 2023-24 season leading the log by 39 points, one point ahead of Red Arrows Football Club.

Coach George Lwandamina is ecstatic about the win because they had a disappointing performance the previous weekend in Kabwe, losing to Prison Leopards 1:0.

At Ndola’s Levy Mwanawasa stadium, Abraham Siankombo gave the home team the lead in the 16th minute, and Lazarus Kambole completed the scoring in the 50th minute.

After the match, Zesco United’s assistant coach Tenant Chilumba told the media that although they had prepared well, the game was difficult, as they had anticipated.

“We are happy for the 3 points especially that we came from a defeat last week in Kabwe. Yes, it was a tough game, but 3 points is what we needed”.

Elsewhere on the Copperbelt province, Derrick Bulaya scored a brace in the 28th and 76th minute to inflict more pain on Nkana, the 13-times Zambian champions.

Mufulira Wanderers defeated Kabwe Warriors 3-2 to earn their sixth victory of the season after going seven games winless.
