Sensational Zanaco FC registered an emphatic 3-0 victory over FC Leopards in a Week 20 fixture of the MTN Super League played at Sunset Stadium on Sunday.
Second half strikes from Ian Sindaye, Eliya Mandanji and Savior Phiri sealed all three points for the Bankers.
The victory pushed Zanaco into the top four with 31 points, eight behind leaders Red Arrows Football Club.
The victory ends a four-match winless run for Zanaco and provides a timely boost as the league enters a decisive stage.
Speaking after the match, head coach Numba Mumamba described the result as crucial for his side’s confidence.
“It’s a very important victory for us. After playing four games without a win, this is something we really needed,” Mumamba said.
“Today we showed hunger and authority, which was missing in the two games we lost at home.”
The coach revealed that a tactical adjustment at halftime proved decisive after identifying weaknesses on the left side of defence.
“We had problems at left back in the first half, so we made a change to stabilise the defence and it worked. In the second half we dominated proceedings,” he explained.
Mumamba also emphasized the importance of experience within his youthful squad as teams battle for survival and top positions.
Zanaco now turn their focus to their next league assignment against Zesco United as they aim to maintain momentum in the title chase.
“This is a critical stage of the league. We need senior players to guide the young ones so we can continue picking points,” he said.
