Here are BOLA NEWS ‘ top 5 talking points that made headlines over the weekend.

Nkwazi Get First Win

Zambia Police Service sponsored side Nkwazi Football Club recorded their first win of the season as they thumped Buildcon Football Club 4-0 at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

On his return to Nkwazi, striker Justin Shonga scored a brace that ensured the High Flying side raced into a 2-nil lead at the break. Shonga was awarded the official Man of the Match award for his performances.

The other two goals were scored by Elias Kanzangarare and Christopher Zulu in the 87th and 90th minutes respectively. The win moved Nkwazi’s point tally to 4 points while Buildcon has been left bottom of the table with just a point from five matches which has seen them record 4 losses.

Prison Leopards remain top

Despite giving away a 2-nil lead in the dying minutes to draw 2-2 against Green Buffaloes at the Edwin Imboela Stadium on Sunday, Prison Leopards are still in command of the Super League table with 12 points.

However, Albert Kanchinga’s side dropped two points at the close of a very tense encounter after racing into the lead with just a minute of play through David Obashi before on-loan Red Arrows striker Lubinda Mundia doubled the lead.

Green Buffaloes came back into the match with Joshua Kosamu and George Ngoma in the 85th and 90th minutes. The result meant both team are yet to lose a match in the 2022-23 Super League.

The other unbeaten team as at Week 6 is Forest Rangers Football Club who draw 0-0 away to Chambishi on Saturday afternoon.

Green Eagles dismal away run continues

Green Eagles were on Saturday handed a 2-0 defeat by Kansanshi Dynamos at the Nchanga Stadium. The Mabanga Boys took control of the match when Marvin Jere and Gerald Chisha scored with just 40 minutes played in a lunchtime kickoff played in Chingola.

Eagles have so far lost all their 3 away matches in the 2022/23 Super League and have conceded a total of 8 goals on the road.

Hooliganism characterizes Nchanga Ranger- Nkana match

The match between Nchanga Rangers was characterized by hooliganism accidents with some Nkana player Patrick Ngondwe injured in the aftermath of the confusion.

The confusion started when Ronald Chibwe equalized for the hosts as Nkana players and officials felt hard done by the equalizer which they felt came after official added time.

The referee, Audrick Nkole was rescued by police while fans allegedly smashed the Nkana FC team bus which saw Ngondwe getting injured. It is reported that glasses from the smashed bus windows got in the young attacker’s eyes, and was rushed to Hospital. What decision will the Disciplinary Committee make? It is yet to be seen.
