FC Muza finally presented their proposal for the election of the Zambian Premier League chairman.

The proposal was tabled during the Football Association of Zambia’s (FAZ) annual general meeting on Saturday at Mulungushi International Conference Centre’s Kenneth Kaunda Wing.

FC Muza proposed that the Zambian Premier League (ZPL) Chairperson be elected by club members rather than appointed by the FAZ.

In response, FAZ President Andrew Kamanga stated that the ZPL chairman will be elected by the clubs once the transition period is completed.

“We are happy that the membership were able to express themselves and chart the way forward for our game,” he said in his weekly column dubbed President’s Corner on FAZ’s Facebook page. “In the spirit of give and take, we were able to give leeway to the membership to give a hearing to some of the clubs with pressing submissions to allow the council make a decision.

Kamanga added: “At the risk of being repetitive, the two clubs that had submissions were given an opportunity to present before the council and expectedly agreed with conventional wisdom that their matters could eventually be fully addressed by an Emergency Council Meeting (EGM).

“To the uninitiated, the contentious issues raised hinged on the election of the Zambian Premier League chairman by clubs, which will be eventually the case once the transitory period is done.”

The FAZ said it is in the process of completely delinking the Zambian Premier League from the association.
