“We’re Still In It” – Mutapa Reacts To Power’s 3-2 Defeat At Red Arrows

Mutapa attributes the loss to failure by his defenders to deal with crosses by Red Arrows wingers.

Oswald Mutapa, head coach of Power Dynamos Football Club, is disappointed that his club lost to Red Arrows, the reigning champions, in Saturday’s Week 19 MTN Super League game.

Aba Yellow suffered a 3-2 away defeat to the Airmen at Nkoloma Stadium, their sixth defeat of the 2024-25 season.

Reacting to the match, Mutapa noted that his side deserved at least a point after coming from behind twice before conceding a late goal.

He attributes the loss to failure by his defenders to deal with crosses by Red Arrows wingers.

“Disappointed that we didn’t get a point. I feel we did enough to get a point, or maybe even to get 3 points. I feel we didn’t play very well, especially in the second half through crosses,” said Mutapa.

“That has cost us because the goals they have scored came from wing play, and I think we made a substitution at half time because of the similar situations, and they capitalized on that. Disappointed with the result, but we go back and we prepare for the other game.”

Mutapa noted that substitute Ackim Mumba was Red Arrows secret weapon as he provided a cross that resulted in the winning goal from Ciel Ebengo with four minutes to go.

“It’s unfortunate that we allowed again through wing play. I think Ackim was their trump card,” he stated.

Mutapa, the former Nkwazi FC gaffer adds that the second round has started on a bad note but emphasizes that the team is still in contention to win the league.

“Starting on a bad note in the second round, but you do agree with me that that was positive play. Football is about pressure, but it’s the way you control it. We are down, but we are still in it,” Mutapa said.
