Wedson upbeat as winless Napsa Stars FC face pacesetters Zanaco

“We just want to get a win against Zanaco, which will be a morale booster to kick start our campaign,” confidently said Napsa coach Perry Mutapa.

Zanaco football club, head coach Wedson Nyirenda tells Bolanews that despite his team’s strong start to the season, he is not getting carried away.

Tied on points with Red Arrows and Power Dynamos after four games, Zanaco is now top of the League standings thanks to a better goal differential.

“The process is still on, and we have a long way to go. Being at the top [of the Log] for me for now is just a bonus. We cannot take that as a landmark. We haven’t even started because there are a lot of things we need to put in place,” said Nyirenda in his pre-match analysis.

The bankers, who have yet to experience defeat this year, will take a short trip to Lusaka’s Woodlands stadium to take on the Napsa Stars, who are winless.

“When you are playing a team which is in that state, they will come and throw every stone at us. Being on the opposite side of the table makes it even more tricky,” he said.

The 1-1 draw last week against Kabwe Warriors marked a turning point in the season for Perry Mutapa, his counterpart.

“We just want to get a win which will be a morale booster to kick start our campaign …. the players will have the confidence to soldier on in the coming games,” confidently said Mutapa.

The former Dynamos coach is confident of victory knowing a win will change things on the League table.

“The players are very confident, and they know just win would change our position on the log. We are playing the Log Leaders, but the difference is only two games which is giving us confidence that the time we get our win things will change,” he said.
