Red Arrows will aim at closing the distance between themselves and the log leaders to just three points as Zesco United dropped points after a 1-1 draw against Forest Rangers on Saturday.
Lazarus Kambole, a young African striker on loan, gave United the lead in the 77th minute after Benson Koala had given the visitors the lead in the first half.
Zesco will remain at the top of the standings despite the stalemate for the time being, but if Red Arrows defeat Zanaco football club this afternoon at Sunset Stadium, the difference will close.
Third-place Arrows, who have only won once in their previous six games (two losses, three draws), will need to turn things around with a victory to reclaim their spot among the title contenders.
Additionally, a victory will be sufficient to move them up to second place after Nkwazi lost ground after falling to Napsa Stars 2-0.
History is on the Airmen’s side in this match, but if Chisi Mbewe’s team wants to contend for trophies this year, they will need to change the one victory and five draws they have had against Zanaco in their previous six matches.
After defeating Nkwazi, Napsa, and Green Buffaloes in three Lusaka Derby encounters this season, the 2021–2022 Super League Champions are the clear favorites.
Zanaco ready for Arrows-Wedson.
On the other hand, a win for the Bankers over the Airmen will see them go second from the 7th position as they also seek to qualify to the 2024 ABSA Cup.
“We could not prepare better than we have done. The boys are looking much more concentrated than ever,” said Wedson Nyirenda in his pre-match analysis.
