“There is nothing special about playing against my younger brother,” Oswald Mutapa

In the battle of the siblings, it was Perry Mutapa's Napsa Stars who emerged victorious against Osward Mutapa's Nkwazi in Sunday's Week 19 match played at Edwin Imboela Stadium.

Frederick Mwimanizi’s goal in the 30th minute was all that was required for the Pensioners to collect maximum points and extend their winning streak to three games, which saw them move to sixth place with 27 points in the league standings.

Nkwazi, on the other hand, has dropped to second place after losing their seventh game of the season.

During the post-match press conference, Napsa Stars coach Perry Mutapa stated that after three consecutive victories, his team will not rest this time and will instead maintain the same momentum

“After three wins, do we have to go to sleep?” he asked. “The answer is no. I think last time we only won two consecutive games, and at one point we were number four then we went to sleep, so football is always continuous.

“So the most important thing is to keep our feet on the ground and always plan. Yes, we have won, good victory but we have to keep our feet on the ground and plan for the next match to win,” concluded the Napsa stars coach.

Meanwhile, his elder brother, Oswald Mutapa, who lost yesterday’s match, said he is confident his team will avoid relegation despite their sloppy start to the season.

“Nkwazi has done this before; there were second from the bottom and went on to finish 8th on the table,’ he said. “And if you look at the points, the sixth team has 30 points, and the difference is 3 games.”

The Nkwazi manager also stated that despite his team’s seventh loss of the season, he is not under any pressure and told the media that playing against his younger brother was nothing special.

“Pressure is part of the game; you are able to tell that I don’t look under pressure.”

“There is nothing special about playing against my younger brother; we have played games before, even in our playing days, and in our coaching times, we still played games, so it’s just like any other game,” he concluded.
