“In the Nkwazi game, we just have to win; there are no excuses anymore. We have jumped one step from relegation," Sipho Mumbi said.

Nkana football club assistant coach Sipho Mumbi has expressed his frustration with the strikers following a goalless draw against Prison Leopards on Wednesday afternoon.

The 13-time Super League champions were further irritated by a goalless draw in their Week 26 match at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe, as they are embroiled in a relegation struggle.

Kalampa have only picked up 30 points from 26 matches, with eight wins, six draws, and 12 defeats. With the draw, Nkana temporarily moved out of the relegation, landing in 13th position.

Speaking after the match, Mumbi cast the blame on the missed chances by the strikers.

“We are quite disappointed; we have planned that we are going to collect maximum points, but I think we could have done better, especially in the final third;” Mumbi said.

“It is about being patient in front of the goal. There were movements when we could slow or speed up the game, but most of the time we were doing the opposite. I think it is decision-making in the final third.”

Mumbi notes that Prison Leopards came with a plan to defend and collect a point. He has described it as a setback for Kalampa.

“We just have to beat Nkwazi” Sipho.

“I don’t even think Prison came here to play; they just came here for a draw, actually. Today we had an upset, drawing against Prison Leopards,” he stated.

He has challenged the players to ensure the legendary side remains in the Super League for next season.

“In the Nkwazi game, we just have to win; there are no excuses anymore. We have jumped one step from relegation, but there is a lot to be done going into the Nkwazi game. Our plan is to finish in a respectable position,” he concluded.
