Sikombe introduces himself to new Chipolopolo coach at Nkoloma stadium

He scored his first-ever hat-trick in the Zambian Super League to help his side thump defending champions Red Arrows FC 0-3. It was also the first hat-trick in the league this season.

As he led his team to a 0-3 victory away at Nkoloma stadium this afternoon, Zesco United midfielder Collins Sikombe became the first player to score a hat trick in the Zambian MTN Super League this season.

Sikombe’s goals in the 66th and 67th minutes, along with a penalty kick in the 90th, were enough for George Lwandamina to record his first victory as Zesco’s head coach since taking over at the Ndola-based team.

The result also meant Red Arrows, who are the defending champions, have now lost their fifth consecutive league match this season.

Sikombe’s goal tally in the Super League stands at six goals, and he joins the race for the golden boot as the leading goal scorer, Kennedy Musonda, has already left Power Dynamos to join Tanzanian outfit Young Africans SC.

Zesco are now 9th in the league standings with 25 points while Arrows sit in 8th place with 27 points.

Meanwhile attending the match at the Nkoloma stadium was newly appointed Chipolopolo coach Avram Grant who has been monitoring players in the Super League.

Sikombe, who was Zambia’s standout player at the 2021 African Nations Championship, will be hoping the new gaffer will hand him a call-up to the national team for the back-to-back Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Lesotho in March this year.
