Former Nkana defender Alick Sichinga has described the club’s transfer business ahead of the 2026 MTN Super League transition season as smart.
Nkana have made eight new signings and promoted three players from the Young Nkana academy.
Having recently served a transfer ban, the Kitwe giants appear to have shifted their recruitment strategy by targeting relatively younger players as they look to rebuild the squad.
Sichinga believes the club has learnt from its past mistakes and is now taking a more calculated approach in the transfer market.
“I think the moves are smart,” Sichinga said. “You can tell from the profile of players they have signed that the club is thinking long term.”
He also urged the club’s supporters to remain patient as the rebuilding process takes shape.
“I know the pressure that is at Nkana, the fans want instant success, but you know they will have to be patient,” Sichinga said.
Nkana will be aiming to bounce back from a disappointing campaign that nearly ended in relegation to the National Division One.
In the transition season, they will compete in Stream A, where they will be looking to finish top of the group and secure a place in the championship playoff round.
