Nkwazi blows away opportunity to be joint league leaders

Freddy Michael scored a second half brace to ensure his side Green Eagles came from behind to beat home side Mutondo Stars 2-1.

Nkwazi Football Club lost 2-1 at Konkola Stadium against Konkola Blades away from home on Saturday, blowing their chance to tie Zesco United on the league table.

After an outstanding start to the season, the Oswald Mutapa team, which faced relegation the previous season, is committed to pursuing their first league title.

A victory for Nkwazi would have taken their tail to 33 points, the same number of points as current leaders, Zesco who are in action against NAPSA Stars at Levy Mwanawasa stadium tomorrow.

After Nkwazi’s defeat, Zesco United might potentially lead by four points if they defeat their rival, NAPSA Stars.

In the capital city, Lusaka, Red Arrows were 1-0 visitors over struggling Nkana football club, who came into this match, looking for a win to lift the Wusakile boys from the relegation zone.
