Bolanews delves into the goalscoring prowess that graced the Zambian topflight this term:

Andy Boyeli (18 goals): Chambishi/Power Dynamos

The Congolese striker has been a breath of fresh air in the Zambian Super League as he guided Power Dynamos to the title. His 18 goals in the league were enough for him to claim the Golden Boot award in the just-ended season.

Meanwhile, Boyeli is the first Congolese to claim the award since 2018, when his compatriot Idriss Mbombo secured the accolade with Nkana.

Andrew Phiri (14 goals): FC Muza

Playing talisman for the Elegant Dynamites this season, Phiri was a force to be reckoned with in the Zambian topflight. Alongside the 14 goals, his attacking combinations with Gift Simanansa and Emmanuel Manda bore fruit for the newly promoted outfit. It was only ever inevitable that Andrew Phiri would be given a Chipolopolo call-up after helping FC Muza secure continental football.

Moyela Libamba (12 goals): Forest Rangers

Libamba also had a very productive season in front of goal for the Ndola-based Forest Rangers. The Zambian center forward registered 12 goals for Ian Bakala’s men as they attempted to keep up with the Power Dynamos in the title race. The season ended on a sunny note as Moyela and co. were crowned 2023 ABSA Cup Champions.

Collins Sikombe (12 goals): ZESCO United

Zega Mambo’s below-par season did not put out Collins Sikombe’s fire this season. The forward was very impressive in front of goal for ZESCO United, scoring 12 goals in the league. Sikombe also grabbed a memorable hat trick over defending champions Red Arrows FC in a 3-0 win at the Nkoloma Stadium this year.

Kennedy Musonda (11 goals): Power Dynamos

The fact that Musonda still appears in the top scorers’ list after leaving in January speaks volumes about how explosive his campaign had begun. The 28-year-old played an instrumental role in propelling Power Dynamos to their seventh Zambian Super League title. Now plying his trade in Tanzania, the Chipolopolo striker helped Yanga SC reach the 2023 CAF Confederations Cup final.

Amity Shamende (11 goals): Green Eagles

Shamende is also one player who blessed the Independence Stadium with a lot of goals as the Green Eagles ended the season in 7th place with 50 points. The 29-year-old bulged the back of the net on 11 occasions in the just-ended Zambian Super League season. The Copper Bullets COSAFA squad will be taking on Kuwait in a friendly on the 12th of June, and they will definitely be counting on the midfielder’s goalscoring exploits.

Kapembwa Musonda (10 goals): NAPSA Stars

NAPSA Stars followed their 2022 ABSA Cup win and top-flight promotion with a scintillating season in the Zambian Super League. The Pensioners finished in 5th place in the log, with Kapembwa playing a huge hand in that achievement. The former Lumwana Radiants star has registered 10 goals for NAPSA stars in the Zambian topflight this season.

Justin Shonga (10 goals): Nkwazi

Shonga has been an absolute belter of a footballer since making his homecoming return to Nkwazi FC. The former Orlando Pirates star has 10 goals to his name this season.

Speaking to Bolanews in May, the 26-year-old expressed his desire to return to the Chipolopolo set-up.
