Zanaco FC head coach Wedson Nyirenda says his team is looking to break their losing streak at Choma Independence Stadium when they face the Green Eagles in a Week 31 match this afternoon.
With only three games remaining in the 2023-24 season, Zanaco is in eighth place in the Zambian Super League, having earned 39 points from 30 games.
Nyirenda believes the team is prepared to turn the tables in Choma.
“I think we have touched so many areas that we needed to touch. Coming from a win at home against rejuvenated Kabwe warriors, I think we are looking set to turn tables here in Choma,” said Nyirenda. ‘The team looks more confident, they look more free to play, and I think [today’s] game, I think will be a better game for us.
“It’s always a tough game to play in Choma and in Mazabuka, but I think every day is a new day this time I think Zanaco we have come here prepared, we have put everything in place it all depends on the players application on the field.”
Nyirenda does not want any other results rather than a win today.
“It’s a win. We just have to win and I think we need, like always said, we need to end this season on the, on the better, decent, decent position.”
The two teams drew 1-1 at Sunset Stadium in their first meeting last season.
If the Kabwe Warriors lose to the Red Arrows, who could be crowned champions today, a victory for the bankers would propel them into sixth place.
