Nkana striker Idris Mbombo, captain Harrison Chisala, and defender Clement Mwape are facing charges of malicious damage to government property after allegedly vandalizing the locking system of the referee’s dressing room at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
The trio has been implicated by Charles Chisenga, an employee at the Cabinet Office and attached to Levy Mwanawasa Stadium, for damaging the system, which is valued at K5,000.
Copperbelt Police Commanding Officer Pathias Siandenge confirmed to Bolanews in a statement that the three players have been arrested.
What happened?
The incident occurred on Sunday after the Kitwe derby against Power Dynamos.
“On Monday, 21.04.25 at 13:40hrs, the district through Twapia Police Station received a report from Charles Chisenga, aged 39, an employee from the Cabinet Office in Ndola attached to Levy Mwanawasa Stadium as an Acting Executive Member, who reported on behalf of the Zambian Government.
“This is in which the reporter [Chisenga] stated that the door to the referee room and the locking system valued at K5000 was maliciously damaged by Nkana FC players namely Idris Mbombo aged 29yrs, Clement Mwape Mulashi, and Harrison Chisala aged 27yrs,” Siandenge stated.
He said, “Be informed that today, 23.04.25 at 11:54 hrs, the trio have been charged and arrested for the subject offence of malicious damage to government property and are currently detained in police custody pending court appearance.”
