Nkana Football Club’s first assistant coach, Dennis Makinka, says the team’s inability to score is causing concern.
On Sunday, the Kitwe side drew 0-0 with Nkwazi at Kitwe’s Nkana Stadium. Since the start of the 2024/25 season, Nkana has only scored two goals in five games, winning one, drawing three, and losing one, placing him eleventh in the standings with six points out of a possible 15.
“I am happy we managed to create alot of chances compared to last week, but we couldn’t convert and I think this is now becoming worrisome,” Makinka told reporters. “Because every game we create so many chances, but we are not able to score. We need to improve more on the finishing.”
Makinka added that Sunday’s draw was a difficult match and that the outcome was not what they wanted.
“First of all, it was a tough game. I think Nkwazi came with a plan; all they wanted to do was bypass the midfield. They were just placing those long balls; they knew because of our height.
“Overall, I think it’s not a bad game, obviously not the result we wanted; we really wanted to get maximum points, but we couldn’t just put the ball behind the net.”
The former Nkwazi boss wants the team needs to work on their finishing. They will face Athletico Lusaka in their next Super League fixture in Lusaka.
