At Edwin Imboela stadium, on Sunday, in a Week 2 Zambian Premier League MTN Super league, defending Champions, Power Dynamos came from a goal down to beat home side, Green Buffaloes 2-1.
Aba Yellow, sealed their season opener victory through goals from Brian Masanyinga and Linos Makwaza jnr.
Power Dynamos FC, head coach Oswald Mutapa, praised his lads, for displaying a good performance.
In a highly contested match, the visitors dominated the game, making it difficult for the home side to push for an equalizer.
Mutapa called the performance of his players a “brilliant display“
“It’s important we had to get the first three points; the first game of the season was a difficult game. We went down early in the game, but kudos to the boys, they responded in good time. We played a team that was more direct, and we had to bring in players that were able to win aerial balls and also try and win second balls to control the game,” he said.
“It was important to make a statement, especially that we came from behind to get the maximum points. This is just our first game, but we have to build from this victory,” added Mutapa.
The Super League best coach of the season, believes the team has the right quality to compete during the 2025-26 season.
“I think we have enough human resources from the substitutions we made. You are able to tell that we have enough depth,” noted the coach.
Looking ahead, the Kitwe giants will face Mines United, league debutants, who have lost their two league fixtures to Mufulira Wanderers (1-2) and Red Arrows (4-1).
