Mufulira Wanderers Football Club, which is currently in 12th position in the Zambian Super League, has parted company with head coach Justin Chinama on amicable terms.

According to a press release issued on Thursday, the renowned club, who suffered a 1-0 loss to Forest Rangers on Wednesday afternoon, opted to reach an amicable agreement to separate with the coach.

Chinama leaves the club in 12th place, two points ahead of the relegation-threatened teams, having suffered their third consecutive defeat on Wednesday.

With only two points from a potential 15 in their past five games, the Wanderers are desperate to avoid relegation to National Division One.

The club’s last win came on February 15, when they defeated ZANACO Football Club 5-0 at Shinde stadium in the famous 45-pass overwhelming exhibition.

Following that, the team managed only two draws and three losses in the most recent Super League games. Abena Milambo have seven victories, nine draws, and ten losses.

Mufulira Wanderers Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ben Chifita has announced that the club has hired second assistant coach Charles Kafula as acting head coach till the end of the current season.

“In light of this transition, we are pleased to announce that second assistant coach Charles Kafula will step in as acting head coach until the conclusion of the season,” Kafula said.

He adds, “Coach Kafula brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the position, and we have full confidence in his ability to lead the team forward during this period.”
