Lumwana Radiants may have sneaked out of the relegation zone for now, but their coach, Bilton Musonda, has warned that there is still hard work to be put in for the remainder of the season.
Lumwana is the second-best-performing team among those that were promoted from the National Division. They sit one point above the relegation zone with 30 points.
Recently, they have experienced a real resurgence, posting big results against some Super League heavyweights. The latest victim was seventh-placed Green Buffaloes.
In a match that was played on Monday due to poor weather on Sunday, Lumwana managed a 2–0 win over Buffaloes with goals from Charles Lubasi and Paul Tembo.
“The result was fantastic, Buffaloes are a good team with a good coach so it was not an easy game, but kudos to the boys who managed to get the maximum points,” Musonda said in an interview.
Lubasi opened the scoring on the 45th minute before Tembo sealed the win in the 79th minute.
“We still have tough games coming up, we need to work hard. We cannot relax because the league is still on, there is a lot of work to be done,” he said.
Lumwana have to shift their attention to facing league leaders Power Dynamos.
“Another difficult game, we have to plan for it…that is why I said the hard work is far from over when you consider what games are coming up,” Musonda said.
