According to Zesco United squad captain Linda Mkhonta, Zambia’s representatives in the CAF Confederations Cup said their goal is to advance to the competition’s group stages.
After placing second in the Zambian Super League the previous season, the nine-time league champions guaranteed a spot in the Confederations Cup.
After having reached the Quarter finals of the CAF Confederations Cup in 2017, Zesco United will be hoping to stage a better performance this time around after a 5 year absence from the competition.
But in an interview with the club’s media, team captain Linda Mkhonta stated that the team’s goals are still the same: to win the league and advance to the Confederations Cup group stages.
“Our mandate remains the same as we start playing the league games, we are going to start playing continental our target is the same, we want to win the league and we want to go upto the group stages in the Confederations. That’s why we have started early preparations because August our league is starting and Confederations so we are getting ready,”said the captain.

“So far so good because even the new faces that we are seeing these are the players that use to play for other teams so we use to meet, I think the spirit is very high everything is going well, we are enjoying to be together and we are bonding we just need to focus on work,” noted Mkhonta.
Zesco United will aim to win their tenth league championship and establish their dominance in the league.
In preparation for the upcoming season, the Ndola-based team is presently completing their ten-day preseason training in Kitwe.
In the meanwhile, Zesco’s first game of the 2025–2026 Super League Season will be against Konkola Blades.
