Playing according to plan earned FC MUZA all three points at home with a 2-0 win over youthful but hard to beat, Atletico Lusaka.

Coach Lameck Banda’s high-press strategy worked well, disrupting Atletico’s usual game plan of building from the back.

MUZA went into this Week 9 fixture at Nakambala Stadium seeking redemption after a tough 1-0 loss to Power Dynamos.

Biston Banda opened the scoring in the 44th minute and added a second from the penalty spot in the 56th minute, to complete his brace.

“We told them not to play under pressure, and it worked perfectly because Atletico couldn’t play their usual game. We knew they’d try to build from the back,” said Coach Banda, pleased with the execution. “It was just unfortunate not to score three or four goals in the first half because we had those chance”

MUZA now sit on 10th position, and Banda praised his players for their effort. “Kudos to the boys for their application today,” he said.

Atletico Lusaka assistant coach William Njobvu could only congratulate MUZA for the victory.

“First and foremost, we want to congratulate MUZA for the win,” Njobvu said. “On our side, the boys did everything they could. In football, you win some games, you lose some.”

Atletico, having conceded 12 goals in nine games, are facing defensive challenges in their debut season with Njobvu hinting to work on the way the team defends.

“We’ll try and help the boys improve in how we defend, and hopefully, in the future, we concede fewer goals,” Njobvu added.
