Indeni Football Club’s head coach, Keegan Syabeene, says the team will keep fighting because they still have a chance to avoid relegation from the MTN Super League this season.

Indeni is at the bottom of the table, with just 10 points from 21 games played. This season, the Oil men have only won two games, drawn four, and lost 15.

However, after winning their second game of the season, 1-0 over FC MUZA at the Indeni Sports Complex last Saturday, Syabeene believes their campaign is far from over.

“Ours is to keep fighting; what happens will be seen at the end of the season,” Syabeene, whose team’s first win, 2-3, was against Zanaco in December last year, said in an interview.

He added, “All I can say is it’s not over; we have to keep pushing and keep fighting. At the end of the day, we will still have that outside chance to survive, and then we will work on that outside chance.”

Win over Muza a morale booster—Syabeene

With just 13 games remaining before the end of the 2024/25 Super League season, Indeni will need to win at least 10 games to avoid relegation and hope that teams above them drop points.

Syabeene is encouraged by their win over FC MUZA last weekend, stating it is a morale booster for his players.

“It was a morale booster; we have been working so hard for this positive result. Ever since we started the second round [of the season], so far we have managed two wins, one draw and a loss, which is a positive for the team. We take each game as it comes,” he stated.

Indeni will now shift attention to their Week 21 fixture as they prepare to face an in-form Kabwe Warriors side on Saturday at the Godfrey Ucar Chitalu Stadium.
