Kabwe Warriors coach George Chilufya has attributed his team’s 1-0 win over Nkana, in a Zambia Premier League Week 4 fixture to hard work.
Warriors’ first win of the season at Godfrey Ucar Chitalu stadium, came at the expense of Nkana, a team that fancies itself to be a title contender.
Chilufya, a former Nkana coach, masterminded his ex-employers’ first defeat of the season.
“It is something that we have been looking forward to,” Chilufya said of his team’s search for a win. “Today we got one goal, which we needed, and three points in our bag.”
Before this game, Warriors had played three scoreless draws. Chilufya felt that all his team needed was to get a goal.
On the Nkana game, he said his team could have scored more.
“We should have wrapped up the game in the first half; we created a lot of chances, but when you have not won from the beginning of the league, patience eludes you,” Chilufya said.
Francis Banda’s goal was the difference in the 57th minute.
