The football community honored the great Dennis Liwewe, one of Zambia’s best football commentators, during week 30 of the super league games.

Players observed a moment of silence in honor of one of the best commentators to ever live.

The late Liwewe, who was born on January 10th, 1936, in Nyasaland (Malawi), emigrated to Zambia in 1960.

Due to his passion for football, he became a household name in domestic and international football commentary.

Liwewe settled on the Copperbelt province, where he worked as a journalist for the Nchanga Weekly newspaper. He served as the Director of Media and Public Relations for the Zambia Consolidated Mines before he retired in 1986.

To honor the members of the Zambian squad who perished in the 1993 Gabon Crash, Dennis came up with the name “KK 11”.

He became known as the “voice of Zambian soccer” and he had this exceptional ability to capture listeners’ attention in the commentary box with his rich, detailed delivery.

Liwewe’s admirers frequently praised the way he expressed himself in the chat box.
