EXCLUSIVE: Simba SC Monitoring ‘Exiled’ Zesco Midfielder Kelvin Kampamba

Tanzanian side Simba SC is closely monitoring the situation surrounding ‘exiled’ Zesco United midfielder Kelvin Kampamba.

Kampamba and Zesco are reportedly at odds after the player fell out of favor with coach Emmanuel Siwale.

As a result, the midfielder, who still has a one-year, six-month contract with the club, has missed the last three CAF Confederation Cup matches.

He is also not expected to feature in the upcoming game, as he has not been training with the team.

Bolanews can exclusively reveal that Kampamba has been training with his boyhood club, Miseshi Blue Stars, who compete in the provincial league in Kitwe.

Sources close to both the club and the player have confirmed that reconciliation between the player and coach seems unlikely and that other clubs have been keeping a close eye on the situation.

Last month, Zesco blocked a potential loan move to Nkana, as they were unwilling to lose the player to any other Super League team.

“He would have joined Nkana in January, but that deal fell through. Zesco are not allowing him to negotiate with any top Super League team,” a source said.

It has now emerged that Simba SC are monitoring the situation.

“The transfer window is closed, so he cannot move for now, but there is an opportunity for him to join Simba in the off-season. The tricky part is that he still has 18 months left on his contract, and unless it is terminated, he cannot really join any team,” another source added.

Kampamba is only six months into the contract he signed in July last year, after joining from Al-Madina SC of Libya.
