Konkola Blades FC midfielder Evans Abu says head coach Beston Chambeshi has built a competitive side.

The Chililabombwe side is 9th with 34 points after 24 matches. They have registered 8 wins, 11 draws with six defeats.

In an interview, the Ghanaian defensive midfielder, who is currently out injured, credited Chambeshi for his and the club’s improved performances this season.

Abu states that Chambeshi is a good tactician that also brought unity to the squad, which has resulted in solid performances.

“Chambeshi has helped me develop more of my skills, and the team’s performance has been improving as a result. I’ve learnt a lot from my coach both on the pitch and outside the pitch, tactics, and the team’s unity has been key to our success. That man is more than a coach, and he is like a father to me,” he stated.

The Ghanaian midfielder noted that the club has stabilized under Chambeshi.

“It has been quite a tough season for us this season, starting from the beginning of the season; the reason being the bonding of new and old players, and you can see now the team is in good shape and results have started coming, and the team has been built to an extent that any player can compete in this year’s ZSL,” he said.

On his recovery, Abu is optimistic about returning to the squad, adding that “I am now focusing on rehabilitation. I’m taking the necessary time to heal and will return stronger. I’m working hard to regain full fitness and can’t wait to get back.”
