Katalila Fanwell Tembo, a striker based in the Netherlands and playing for SV ARC, a Dutch amateur football club in Alphen aan den Rijn, is hoping to return home and represent Zambia.

The 17-year-old, who turns 18 in September, has exclusively revealed to BolaNews that he hopes to earn a call-up to Zambia’s junior national teams to kick-start his international career.

Katalila was born in Zambia to Zambian parents who relocated to the Netherlands when he was 11. He has been playing football from a young age, according to his mother, Ruth Liche Jonkers, who also spoke to BolaNews.

“It would feel great, to be honest. I have always wanted to come home for a long time,” Katalila said when asked how it would feel to be called up to represent Zambia.

He has been rated as one of the best players at SV ARC and disclosed that he is inspired by the likes of Patson Daka and Fashion Sakala.

“Patson Daka is a very good striker. I have similar traits, physical and fast. He’s one of the Zambian players I watch. Also Fashion Sakala, a very good player with strong technical abilities,” he said.

Katalila Dreams of Playing for a Top Club

The young attacker, who holds a Zambian passport, sees himself playing for a big club in the near future and hopes for a national team call-up.

“The way my career is going, I see myself being at a very big club,” he said. “And also playing for the national team in Zambia. If everything works out, I see myself playing for a big club like Ajax.

“If given a chance, I will give my 100 percent, or even 1,000, to give the fans what they deserve.”

Katalila’s parents have also told BolaNews that they are willing to buy air tickets for him to travel to Zambia to be assessed by national team coaches, as their son’s decision is firmly to represent Zambia.
