Eagles lost 3-1 to Red Arrows, and 2-0 to both Zesco United and Zanaco. This has left their head coach Alex Namazaba worried.
“Yes, we are actually worried because it’s only two weeks before we play our first [Super League] game,” he told reporters in Ndola after the tournament.
‘We now have two things to deal with: defending and attacking, which is not okay. We are not solid in defense; we are allowing goals and creating chances but not scoring. So we have to work on that.”
The Green Eagles gaffer, however, was happy that the tournament had exposed his side’s weaknesses before the League started.
“I think the tournament has exposed our weaknesses, which is good….. And that’s why we came here—to come and participate.”

Namazaba assured that he will push his team to “work extra hard” in the remaining two weeks before the new season kicks off.
“I will just push the boys to work extra hard, especially in finishing, which is our main problem.”
The Red Arrows were crowned Champions of the four-team pre-season tournament for the second year in a row after finishing first with 7 points, followed by Zesco United in second with 5 points, Zanaco F.C. in third with three points, and the Green Eagles in last with only one point.
Green Eagles will kick off their 2023/24 Super League campaign against newly promoted side, Mutondo Star at home on August 19.
