Winless Nkana Football Club will be aiming for their first win of the 2024-25 Zambian Premier League season when they face Napsa Stars on Saturday.
Nkana, 13-time winners of the Zambian Super League, have only managed to secure two points from their first three league matches.
The Kitwe based side who are currently 13th on the log has struggled with relegation battles over the past two seasons.
Napsa Stars won by a goal to nil in their most recent match between them which took place on March 16, 2024, in Lusaka.
However, Kalampa holds a superior record against the Pensioners, boasting 11 victories compared to Napsa’s 6.
Speaking ahead of the clash, Nkana’s first assistant coach, Dennis Makinka, expressed the team’s determination to turn their fortunes around.
“We have told ourselves that from this game onward, we need to start picking maximum points,” Makinka stated.
He emphasized the team’s readiness and seriousness going into Saturday’s game. “We are very ready, and we are taking this game with the seriousness it deserves,” he added.
Makinka acknowledged the weight of expectation at a club like Nkana. “This game is important. We should start picking points. Nkana is a very big team, and we are not supposed to be sitting where we are,” he noted.
“Everyone is concerned – our supporters, our exico, and everyone involved in Nkana, including the players. We have only managed two points from a possible nine.”
