Chris Katongo hypes Nkana in Super League title race

The 2012 AFCON winner believes Nkana are still in the race for the Super League.

If Power Dynamos and Zesco United think the league title is a two–horse race, Nkana assistant coach Christopher Katongo has warned them to think twice because his side is closing in.

On Sunday, Power will host Zesco United at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe.  This match has been dubbed as the title decider by many football writers, supporters, and some bloggers.

Power are top of the pile with 54 points, three better than Zesco, while Nkana, who have played a game more, are in third with 50 points.

With five games left before the end of the season, Katongo, a Chipolopolo legend and Nkana coach Mwenya Chipepo’s assistant, has warned that the 13–time champions are closing in.

“We are closing in,” Katongo posted on his Facebook page alongside a poster that had Nkana’s next fixtures. “very important games Nkana Football Club, Let’s give it all our best.”

Will look to the game between Nkana and Zesco with knee interest and will hope that the game does not produce a winner so that they are within sight of the top two.

Nkana’s last five games are, however, not anything easier in that they will have to face relegation-threatened Zanaco at home before travelling to face Green Buffaloes in Lusaka.

After that, they will be hoping to complete a double over Power in the Kitwe derby before wrapping up the season with matches against MUZA and Kabwe Warriors away and home, respectively.

What a story it would be for Nkana if they were to win the league or finish in a continental place, in that they started the season on a very poor note that saw them flirt with relegation in the early stages of the campaign.
