Green Buffaloes were left feeling upset at Edwin Imboela Stadium, in week eight super league fixture after giving up a stoppage-time equalizer against Nchanga Rangers, that prevented them from earning maximum points.

At Edwin Imboela stadium, Buffaloes’ Perkins Mumba struck in the 61st minute, giving the home fans reason to cheer.

But their joy was cut short deep into injury time as Benson Kolala found the back of the net for Nchanga Rangers, snatching a valuable point for the visitors.

“It’s a very painful draw because we were leading and the game ended, we went into injury time,” said Chiyangi, after being disappointed with his team’s inability to close the game.

The Buffaloes boss admitted that his players failed to show the required defensive resilience in the final moments.

“Players did not fight so hard on defending that goal. We had a chance of defending that goal properly. Players relaxed a bit. Players need to fix bit bit harder.”

Chiyangi Eyes ABSA Cup Qualification.

Chiyangi’s comments underline the team’s recurring struggle to maintain focus late in the matches, an an issue that has cost them crucial points this season, having also drawn with Zanaco away.

The Gaffer didn’t hold back in his post-match assessment, expressing disappointment with the overall performance of his side.

“I don’t think there is anything good that we can say. We can only say that it was a bad game.”

Chiyangi, however, remains optimistic about the bigger picture. He insists the team’s ambitions of securing a place in the ABSA Cup remain intact.

“Our focus is still qualifying ABSA despite what happened, today we can’t lose hope to keep fighting.”
