With six matches remaining before the end of the 2024/25 season, Mbewe’s side is trailing the log leaders Power Dynamos by 10 points.

Mbewe said he expected a tough match against the home side.

Mbewe said after the team gave Eagles space to equalise after taking a first-half lead through Ackim Mumba.

“A very tough game. It wasn’t going to be easy playing away to Eagles because of late Eagles have not been doing very well, and it was a disappointing result. We started very well in the first half; we controlled the game,” Mbewe said.

“We even managed to score; after the break, we knew that Eagles were going to come at us, but again, I think we gave a lot of room to Eagles, eventually, we even allowed them to equalise; this is a game we felt we would have gotten three points.”

On the chances of defending, Mbewe states that the last six matches will be crucial to determine their chances of reclaiming the title.

“At the rate we are moving, we need consistency in winning games. The most important thing is if we are to defend the league, we need to pull up our socks and ensure we fight in the remaining six games,” he stated.
